Man busted hiding in roof after trying to rob service station with knife

Police have charged a man after he robbed a Central Coast service station while armed with a knife last night.

About 9.30pm (Tuesday 11 August 2015), a man entered a service station on the Central Coast Highway at Erina, allegedly armed with a knife.

The female store attendant ran into the rear office and locked the doors.

Police from Brisbane Water Local Area Command were alerted to the incident and arrived a short time later.

The store was searched with the assistance of a Dog Unit team and, about 30 minutes later, officers arrested a 24-year-old man, who had allegedly hidden in the roof above the store toilets.

The man was taken to Gosford Police Station and charged with robbery while armed with an offensive weapon

He has been refused bail and is due to appear at Gosford Local Court today (Wednesday 12 August 2015).

The store attendant was not injured.
