Man charged after 10-month-old baby assaulted on train

A man has been charged after a 10-month-old baby boy was brutally assaulted on a train overnight.

Police say that about 8.25pm, officers were patrolling Woy Woy Railway Station when they were approached by a member of the public who had allegedly witnessed the baby boy being assaulted by a man several times.

On entering the train, officers located the distressed child in a pram with obvious head injuries and rushed him to Gosford Hospital where he remains in a stable condition.


A 22-year-old man who was travelling with the baby’s mother was arrested and charged with assault occasioning actual bodily harm (DV).

He is due to appear before Gosford Local Court today.

The baby boy will be placed into the care of the Department of Family and Community Services.
