Man charged after allegedly abducting toddler from Logan home

A man has been charged after allegedly snatching a 1-year-old girl from a home in Beenleigh, sparking an Amber Alert.

The 31-year-old man, who is known to the child, is accused of entering a Wardell Crescent home around 9.30pm on Saturday.

Police say the man allegedly assaulted a woman before fleeing with the toddler.

It sparked a major cross-border search after the vehicle the man was believed to have been driving was found in Bogangar in the Tweed Shire.

The little girl was found safe and well in Beenleigh around 10.00am on Sunday.

The Beenleigh man has been charged with a string of Domestic Violence offences including child stealing, enter dwelling with intent, assault occasioning bodily harm, common assault, contravention of a domestic violence order, dangerous operation of a vehicle and evade police.

He is due to appear in the Beenleigh Magistrates Court today.
