Man charged after couple robbed at knifepoint in GC shopping centre carpark

A MAN has been charged over the terrifying armed robbery of a couple at a Gold Coast shopping centre earlier this month.

A man and woman were sitting in a parked vehicle at Harbour Town in Biggers Waters on Thursday May 17, when they were approached by a man just before 11.30pm.

The man, who was armed with a knife, demanded the couple hand over their personal belongings.

The pair complied and the man took off in another car which was parked nearby.

Following investigations, a 34-year-old Reedy Creek man has since been charged with two counts each of armed robbery and failure to appear in accordance to undertaking.

He has also been charged with one count of unlawful use of a motor vehicle.

The man is due to appear in the Southport Magistrates Court today.
