Man charged after evading Police in stolen car across Gold Coast

Police have been forced to deploy tyre spikes to stop a stolen car seen driving across parts of the Gold Coast.

Officers spotted the white 2015 Toyota Hilux dual cab on Smith St at Gaven just before midnight.

The vehicle had been reported stolen from the Gold Coast Highway at Burleigh Heads on April 3.

The Hilux was again spotted by Police just after 1.20am in the Burleigh Heads area.

Officers deployed tyre spikes on West Burleigh Rd but the vehicle kept driving.

It eventually stopped in Cassia Drive in Varsity Lakes.

A 56-year-old Currumbin man was taken into custody.

He has since been charged with unlawful use of a motor vehicle, driving of motor vehicle without a drivers licence, Disqualified by Court Order Repeat offender, and Possessing anything for use in the commission of crime.

The man is due to front Southport Magistrates Court on April 26.
