Man granted bail after Gold Coast bus stop assault

A man has been charged over the brutal bashing of a man out the front of a busy Gold Coast shopping centre over the weekend.

The attacked happened at a bus stop in front of Westfield Helensvale around 3.00pm on Friday.

A witness caught the whole thing on camera.

In the footage published by Newscorp, a person can be seen picking up another man and throwing him into the concrete, where he landed on his head and became unconscious.

There were multiple witnesses – including school kids.

The 43-year-old victim was taken to the Gold Coast University Hospital.

On Sunday, police arrested 20-year-old Christian Farrell, where he was charged with grievous bodily harm.

He fronted court today where he was reportedly granted bail.

His parents told reporters outside of court that they’re struggling to deal with what’s happened.
