Man charged after leading police on wild chase through streets of Gold Coast

A MAN has been charged after allegedly leading police on a wild chase in a stolen Audi on the Gold Coast overnight.

The chaos unfolded just before 9.00pm, when officers spotted a Subaru wagon which had been stolen from a home in Miami

Pol Air began tracking the vehicle as it travelled from Helensvale to Nerang, where it met up with the Audi which had been stolen from Helensvale on Thursday.


Police say they followed the vehicles back to Helensvale where they were seen parking on Lindfield Road.

Offices managed to swoop in and arrest the occupants of the Subaru, a 17-year-old male and 13-year-old girl, however the Audi continued to speed off along Discovery Drive.

Police then deployed stingers across the road which brought the Audi to a halt, with the driver running from the scene into a nearby school.

The man, who police say was “extremely aggressive and threatening violence” was tasered before being taken into custody.

The 21-year-old from New South Wales has since been charged with dangerous operation of a motor vehicle, burglary and commit and indictable offence, unlawful use of a motor vehicle and obstruct police.

He is due to face the Southport Magistrates Court this morning.

A 17-year-old male from Varsity Lakes, who was allegedly located in the stolen Subaru, was arrested for burglary, receiving tainted property, unlawful use of a motor vehicle, dangerous operation of a vehicle, possess by night instrument of house breaking, unlawful possession of suspected stolen property and possession of a knife.
