Man charged after NSW toddler hospitalised for severe burns

A MAN has been charged after allegedly inflicting severe burns on his partner’s two-year-old son, forcing him to have to undergo surgery in the NSW Central West.

Detectives were called to Condobolin Hospital about 3.30am on Sunday after the toddler was treated for second-degree burns to his face and back.

They were told the boy was in the care of his mother’s partner while she was at work the previous evening. When she arrived home she noticed the boy was unsettled and quickly discovered his injuries.

He was taken to Bathurst Police Station and charged with reckless grievous bodily harm (DV), and neglect child or young person in his care.

The man was refused bail to appear at Bathurst Local Court today.
