Man charged after pointing fake gun at passing motorists

A man has been charged after he allegedly pointed a fake gun at a number of passing motorists in Coffs Harbour earlier today.

Police say they received a number of calls from frightened motorists just after 4.00pm on Monday, claiming a man was walking in the middle of Coramba Roar armed with a pistol.

It’s alleged the man, who was dressed in black and wearing black sunglasses, was waving the pistol at passing cars.


Police responded, and with the help of a Police Dog, officers located a man in Shephards Lane where they arrested him in possession of a replica pistol.

The 20-year-old was arrested and taken to Coffs Harbour Police Station where he was charged with armed with intent to commit indictable offence, and four counts of common assault.

The local man was bail refused to appear at Coffs Harbour Local Court today.
