Man charged after sending sexually-explicit material to 14yo girl

DETECTIVES have charged a 29-year-old man with child exploitation offences after striking up an online conversation with what he thought was a teenage girl.

It all started in October last year, when officers from the Child Abuse and Sex Crimes Squad’s Child Exploitation Internet Unit began engaging online with the man from Sydney’s south.

Police will allege in court that the 29-year-old through he was talking to a 14-year-old girl and engaged in conversations about sexual acts he wished to perform on the child.

It will also be alleged that the man sent sexually-explicit material.

Yesterday, detectives raided the man’s home an Caringbah, seizing two mobile phones, an iPad and several USB devices for forensic examination.

He was arrested and taken to Sutherland Police Station, where he was charged with using a carriage service to transmit indecent communication to person under 16 years of age.

He was granted strict conditional bail and is due to appear at Sutherland Local Court on Thursday 21 March 2019.
