Man charged after ‘significant amount’ of cash found in car on Gold Coast

Gold Coast Police have arrested a man after seizing a significant amount of cash and drugs during a vehicle intercept.

It’s believed the 40-year-old man was travelling on Ferry Road in Southport around 1.00pm yesterday, when detectives stopped the vehicle.

Officers then searched the vehicle, finding a significant amount of cash inside a plastic shopping bag.

The Jimboomba man was charged with possession of tainted property, and will appear in court next month.

Detective Inspector Glen Donaldson of the Major and Organised Crime Squad says their partnership work with district police and their intelligence-led approach is helping proactively patrol the Gold Coast.

“Disrupting organised crime by focusing on the proceeds of crime, remains a key strategy for the Major and Organised Crime Squad.

“Our success with this arrest is a testament to the ongoing dedication of detectives working tirelessly to make our community safer,” Detective Inspector Donaldson said.
