Man charged after threatening resident with gun in frightening home invasion

Police have charged a man following a frightening home invasion at Griffith in March 2015.

About 10.30am, Friday 6 March 2015, a man was in his home on Watson Road, when a group of people forcibly entered the house.

One intruder, a man, pointed a firearm at the resident, while the other people rummaged through the home stealing cash and other items.


On Saturday 7 March 2015, the same resident was in the home on Watson Road, when the man with the firearm returned and threatened the resident before leaving the house.

Police were contacted and Griffith Local Area Command commenced an investigation.

Following inquiries an arrest warrant was issued for a 37-year-old man.

Yesterday (Tuesday 29 September 2015), investigators attended a caravan park on Mackay Avenue, Yoogali, and arrested a 37-year-old man and woman.

They were taken to Griffith Police Station. The man was charged with special aggravated break and enter commit serious indictable offence – weapon, intimidation and two outstanding warrants.

He was refused bail to appear at Griffith Local Court today (Wednesday 30 September 2015).

The woman was charged with hinder apprehension person who committed serious offence and she was given conditional bail to appear at Griffith Local Court on Wednesday 28 October 2015.
