Man charged after torturing elderly woman with boiling water
A man has been charged with assault, intimidation and theft after allegedly pushing an elderly woman’s face into a bowl of boiling water in Sydney’s lower north shore.
The 49-year-old male demanded money from the 75-year-old woman at her Castlecrag house at about 4pm on Wednesday.
When she refused, the man poured boiling water into a bowl and forced her face into it, police say.
The man then held a knife to the woman’s throat, poured alcohol on her head and threatened to set her alight.
He fled the scene after stealing cash and other items.
