DETECTIVES have charged a man after he allegedly tried to drown a toddler in Sydney’s south west.
The NSW Child Abuse and Sex Crimes Squad launched an investigation last month after a 25-year-old woman and two-year-old girl had been physically injured and abused by a man known to them.
It lead police to arrest a 24-year-old man at a home near Campbelltown about 9pm on Monday.

Police will allege in court that the man physically abused the woman and child on numerous occasions between January and July this year, including one incident where he allegedly tried to drown the child while bathing her.
He has since been charged with attempt to drown person with intent to murder, four counts of common assault (DV) and two counts of destroy or damage property (DV).
The man was refused bail and is due to appear at Campbelltown Local Court today.
