A MAN has been charged with allegedly spiking a woman’s drink with the drug GHB, causing her to collapse.
Police say the 27-year-old woman was with a group of friends at a hotel in Newtown on Friday 22 November when the terrifying incident occurred.
“The woman sat at a table with the group and was drinking a cocktail before leaving her drink unattended to use the bathroom,” NSW police said.

“Police will allege a 28-year-old man sat down at the table and leaned over the woman’s drink and spiked it with GHB.”
The woman then returned to her seat and continued to drink her cocktail before collapsing.
She was taken to hospital where blood tests later confirmed the drug GHB in her system.
The matter was reported to police and following investigations, officers arrested a 28-year-old man at his workplace around 1pm yesterday.
He was taken to Day Street Police Station where he was charged with administer poison etc intend injure/cause distress/pain.
He was refused bail to appear in Central Local Court today.
The incident is a timely reminder for party-goers to keep a close eye on their beverages heading into the festive season.
