Man charged after young girl admitted to hospital with ‘serious bruising’

A MAN has been charged over the alleged assault of a 15-year-old girl who presented to the Children’s Hospital at Westmead with serious bruising on Thursday.

Detectives from the State Crime Command’s Child Abuse and Sex Crimes Squad arrested the 37-year-old at a home in Sydney’s west about 7.15pm yesterday after launching an investigation.

He was taken to Granville Police Station, where he was charged with two counts of assault occasioning actual bodily harm, two counts of common assault, intentionally choke person with recklessness, and contravene prohibition/restriction in AVO.


Police will allege in court that the girl was assaulted twice by the man, known to her, at a home in Sydney’s west on Wednesday 19 December.

The man was refused bail and is due to appear before Fairfield Local Court today.

Police say inquiries are continuing.
