Man charged over alleged sexual assault of 6yo girl at family friend’s home

A man has been charged over the alleged sexual and indecent assault of a young girl more than 10 years ago.

Police say the charges come after detectives recommenced an investigation into the alleged sexual assault of a six-year-old girl at a family friend’s home in 2004.

The incident was reported to police at the time, but withdrawn before the investigation was finalised.

The 32-year-old man was arrested at a home at Glebe yesterday and charged with two counts of aggravated sexual assault of a child under 10, and aggravated indecent assault of a child under 10.

Police allege the man sexually and indecently assaulted the young girl when she visited his home in 2004.

He was granted bail and is due to appear at Downing Centre Local Court on Friday 22 July.
