Man charged after ammunition and weapons found in vehicle

A man has been charged after police located weapons and ammunition after searching his car in vehicle.

About 11pm on Wednesday police spoke to a 32-year-old man who was seated in the driver’s seat of a Toyota Prado which was parked on Verullum Road in Lambton.

After searching his vehicle they located ammunition for a number of weapons, part of a shotgun as well as a pair of home-made nunchucks.


The man was arrested and charged with possessing ammunition without a licence, acquiring a firearm part, possessing a prohibited weapon without permit and possessing a knife in a public place.

He’s been granted bail and will appear at Newcastle Local Court on 12 January 2017.
