Man charged with assault after woman found dead in NSW home

A MAN has been charged with assault occasioning actual bodily harm and common assault after a woman who police said was known to him was found dead inside a house in Sydney’s southwest.

Police said the 39-year-old woman’s body was found inside a house on Cardigan Road in Greenacre shortly after 10.30am yesterday.

Homicide detectives are investigating, confirming the circumstances surrounding the woman’s death were suspicious.

A crime scene was established at the house and examined by forensic police.

A 42-year-old man was arrested at the scene and taken to Bankstown Police Station where he faced several hours of intense questioning.

He has since been charged with assault occasioning actual bodily harm and common assault.

Police confirmed the man and woman were known to each other.

He was refused bail to appear before Bankstown Local Court today.

Detectives say investigations are continuing.
