Man charged after body found on Qld roadside
A man has been charged over an alleged hit and run which claimed the life of a young man in far north Qld.
Police said the 24-year-old was walking along Junction Road in Mossman when he was allegedly struck by a vehicle on September 3 last year.
A member of the public found the man’s body on the side of the road around 4.45am and alerted officers.
Following investigations, a 46-year-old Gladstone man was charged with one count each of driving without due care, fail to remain at an incident and driving a vehicle whilst under the influence of liquor or a drug.
He is due to appear in the Gladstone Magistrates Court on September 4.
