Man charged with breaking police officer’s nose in wild brawl

A MAN has been arrested and charged with breaking a police officer’s nose during a wild brawl in the NSW Riverina.

The violent scenes erupted on Station Place in the regional city of Wagga Wagga around 2.45am on Saturday.

Police were called and arrived to find a group of men punching-on in the street.


Officers raced to break up the melee when a 29-year-old man allegedly punched an officer in the nose.

The 29-year-old was arrested at the scene while the 27-year-old male officer was treated for a broken nose.

The accused was taken to Wagga Wagga Police Station where he was charged with assaulting causing actual bodily harm to a police officer in the execution of duty.

He was granted conditional bail and is scheduled to front Wagga Wagga Local Court on Wednesday, November 29.
