Man charged, cannabis plants worth over $1.2m seized from suburban home

Police have charged a man after cannabis plants, cannabis, and a hydroponic set-up were allegedly located at Ryde yesterday.

Operation Tassie was formed by officers from North West Metropolitan Region Enforcement Squad to investigate the cultivation of cannabis in the North West Region.

About 12.30pm yesterday (Tuesday 14 July 2015), police attached to Operation Tassie attended a home in Lee Avenue, where a 24-year-old man was arrested.

A search warrant was executed at the premises, where police allegedly located a large hydroponic setup, almost 70 cannabis plants, and about 150kg of cannabis, with an estimated street value of between $1.2 and $1.5 million.

The man was taken to Ryde Police Station, where he was charged with supply, cultivate and possess cannabis, and goods in custody.

He has been refused bail, to appear at Burwood Local Court today (Wednesday 15 July 2015).
