Man charged after clearner finds drugs, cash found in hotel room

A VICTORIAN man has been arrested at a hotel in NSW after a cleaner allegedly found a stockpile of dangerous drugs and almost $20,000 cash in the room he was renting.

Police were called to the Hay Street hotel in Port Macquarie after staff made the discovery around 11.20am on Saturday.

Officers searched the hotel room and found a stash of meth (ice), cannabis and ecstasy, as well as more than $18,000 cash.

Detectives arrested a 42-year-old man at the hotel a short time later. He was taken to Port Macquarie Police Station and charged with supply prohibited drug, four counts of possess prohibited drug, and goods in custody.

He was refused bail to front Port Macquarie Local Court today.
