Man charged with faking Bondi bowls club robbery

A man has been charged with making a false report after faking a robbery at a Bowls Club in Bondi last week.

The 46-year-old man claimed that at around 10.15pm on Tuesday 11 July, two men gained entry to the licensed premises on Warners Avenue and threatened him with a firearm.

He told police that the men broke into a safe and ATM machine, stealing cash before fleeing.

Following investigations, police arrested the 46-year-old man at the bowling club on Thursday,

He was taken to Waverley Police Station and charged with false representation resulting in police investigation; and steal property as clerk/servant.

He was granted conditional bail to appear at Waverley Local Court on Tuesday 15 August.
