Man charged after firing air rifle at three girls in Sydney

A man has been charged after firing an air rifle at three girls standing on the side of the Hume Highway in Sydney’s south west on Saturday.

Police said that around 5.30pm, the teens, two aged 16 and one aged 17, were standing outside Woodward Park at Liverpool when a white truck stopped next to the group.

Officers were told a man, allegedly armed with a firearm, fired shots through the open window of the truck, hitting the three teenagers before driving away.


The 17-year-old girl received a laceration to her face and swelling. Luckily, the two 16-year-old girls escaped uninjured.

Following inquiries, a 28-year-old man attended Liverpool Police Station about 11.45am on Sunday where he was charged with assault occasioning actual bodily harm, common assault and intimidation.

He was granted conditional bail to appear at Liverpool Local Court on Wednesday 16 August.
