A man has been charged with grievous bodily harm after allegedly seriously assaulting an 18-month-old baby in Sydney’s south west.
Emergency services were called to a unit at Bankstown around 11pm on Saturday after reports the baby had been injured.
The infant was treated by paramedics at the scene, before being taken to The Children’s Hospital at Westmead where he remains in a serious condition.

A 20-year-old man was arrested yesterday by investigators from Bankstown Police Station and is due to face court today.
He was charged with four counts of cause grievous bodily harm to person with intent and three counts of assault occasioning actual bodily harm.
The relationship between the man and the child is not yet known, though investigations are still underway.
