Man charged over glassing at Qld Leagues Club

A man has been charged after he brutally assaulted another man with a glass in a senseless, unprovoked attack, police say.

The assault occurred at a local Rugby Leagues Club in Moranbah on Saturday night.

The victim, a 25-year-old man, suffered substantial bruising and swelling to his face as well as lacerations.

Police said the man was lucky to have not suffered more serious injuries.

“It was fortunate that the glass used in the assault did not cause more serious injuries,” Senior Constable Daniel Feldman said.

A 27-year-old Mackay man has been charged with assault occasioning bodily harm whilst armed with a circumstance of aggravation at a public place whilst adversely affected.

He is due to appear in the Mackay Magistrates Court today.
