Man charged after handgun found on floor of Brisbane CBD pub

A man has been charged after police discovered a handgun lying on the floor of a Brisbane CBD pub yesterday.

Police were called to a licenced premises on Queen Street around 3.10pm Sunday in relation to another matter when their attention was drawn to a man who was acting suspiciously.

The officers approached the man and allegedly found a handgun on the floor where he was standing.


Police then conducted a search of the man and his hotel room, allegedly discovering ammunition, cash and drugs.

The 35-year-old Annerley man has been charged with unlawful possession of weapon, carry weapon in public place whilst loaded, authority to possess explosives (ammunition), possessing dangerous drugs, unlawful possession of a controlled drug and possess utensils or pipes etc for use.

He is expected to appear at the Brisbane Magistrates Court on June 30.

A 23-year-old Kippa-Ring woman, who was with the man at the time, was issued with a Notice to Appear for drug offences.
