Man charged with impersonating police officer to ‘pat down’ young boy
A man has been charged after he allegedly impersonated a police officer to pat down a young boy.
The bizarre incident occurred at a second hand store on Moreton Bay Road at Cleveland just after 3.00pm yesterday.
Police said the man approached the child, telling him that he was a police officer.
“It will be further alleged that he then patted the boy down outside his clothing before fleeing the store and leaving in a vehicle,” police said in a statement.
Luckily, the boy escaped unharmed.
A 54-year-old man from Birkdale has since been charged with one count each of indecent treatment of a child and impersonating police.
He is due to appear in the Cleveland Magistrates Court on June 30.
