Man charged with impersonating police and pulling over cars in Sydney
A MAN accused of impersonating a police officer and intercepting motorists in a fake undercover police car in Sydney’s Inner West has been arrested and charged.
The 22-year-old allegedly fitted red and blue lights to the dash of a grey Toyota Corolla and pulled over a vehicle on Balmain Road in Lilyfield just before 11.30pm last night.
It will be alleged the 22-year-old approached the stranger’s vehicle and spoke to the driver before returning to his car and leaving the scene.
Police were called and, following inquiries, arrested the 22-year-old man at a house on Noble Street in Greenacre just after 7am this morning.
He was taken to Bankstown Police Station where he was charged with impersonating a police officer.
The man was granted conditional bail to appear at Downing Centre Local Court on Friday 27 January.
