Man charged with murdering his former partner found dead in police cell

A MAN accused of murdering his former partner in an attack at her home on the NSW Central Coast has been found dead in his police cell.

Lance Michael Pearce, 34, was arrested and charged after his former partner, Blair Dalton was found beaten within an inch of her life at her Ettalong Beach home on Tuesday.

Sadly, the 35-year-old mother’s injuries were too severe and she died two days later in Gosford Hospital.

Pearce was arrested at the home at the time of the attack and was initially charged with attempt to strangle/suffocate with intent to murder.

Police had been preparing to upgrade the 34-year-old’s charges to murder when he was found dead in a police cell before his court appearance on Friday.

Investigators say his death is not being treated as suspicious.
