A young man has been charged over the alleged physical abuse of a 12-week-old baby girl in NSW.
The 20-year-old was taken into custody at a unit in Warrawong about 1pm yesterday, following an ongoing investigation by detectives from the State Crime Command’s Child Abuse and Sex Crimes Squad.
It’s understood officers were alerted to the alleged abuse after the infant presented to hospital with serious head and arm injuries last month.

“Police will allege in court the man physically abused the baby and a 17-year-old woman, who are both known to him, last month,” NSW police said in a statement.
Thankfully the baby has since been released from hospital and detectives say alternate care arrangements have been made for the infant.
The man has since been charged with 19 domestic violence-related offences including reckless grievous bodily harm, contravene prohibition/restriction in AVO (x10), common assault (x3), intentionally choke person without consent (x2), stalk/intimidate intend fear physical harm (x2), and destroy or damage property.
He was refused bail to appear at Wollongong Local Court today.
