Man charged over alleged bashing death

A MAN has been charged with assault causing death after a man he allegedly bashed later died from his injuries in hospital on the NSW Mid North Coast.

The victim, a 36-year-old man, was found laying unconscious in the driveway of a home on Excelsior Street at Nambucca Heads about 7am on Tuesday.

He was rushed to Coffs Harbour Hospital where it was found the man’s skull was fractured.

Sadly, the man’s injuries were too severe and he could not be saved.

NSW Police confirmed the 36-year-old died in hospital just before 4pm on Wednesday.

Following inquiries, a 23-year-old man was arrested at an address on Riverside Drive and has since been charged with assault causing death.

He was remanded in custody overnight and due to appear in Port Macquarie Local Court today.
