Man charged over alleged online child exploitation

A Western Sydney man has been arrested after allegedly trying to meet a 14-year-old girl for sex.

The 52-year-old man allegedly believed he was speaking with the young girl online and engaged in conversations about sexual acts he wished to perform on her.

Police allege the man suggested he form a relationship with the girl’s mother to gain access to the child before making arrangements to meet the child for sex.


Following extensive investigations, the man was arrested near Westmead Railway Station on Thursday morning, with police also seizing electronics from his Colyton home.

He was taken to Parramatta Police Station, where he was charged with use a carriage service to procure person under 16 years of age for sexual activity.

He was refused bail and is due to appear at Parramatta Local Court today.
