Man charged over alleged wounding at Oxenford sports field

A man has been charged over the alleged wounding of another man known to him at an oval in Oxenford overnight.

Police allege the two men, aged 42 and 60, were having a conversation at a sports ground on Leo Graham Way around 8pm when it escalated into violence.

The older man is accused of attacking the younger man, leaving him with several cuts to his arms and neck.

The 42-year-old was treated at the scene by paramedics before being taken to the Gold Coast University Hospital with non-life-threatening injuries.

The 60-year-old fled the oval immediately after the attack but was tracked down a short time later in Upper Coomera.

He has since been charged with unlawful wounding and is due to appear in the Southport Magistrates Court on March 2.

Investigators are urging anyone with information or dash-cam footage from the area to come forward.
