Man charged over armed hold up in Merrimac

A man has been charged after allegedly holding up an bottleshop in Merrimac on Sunday night.

According to police, the man entered the Jura Parade business just before 8.00pm and demanded money while intimating he was armed with a firearm.

The male staffer complied with his demands, handing over a sum of cash before the thief ran off.

Nobody was injured in the incident.

A 22-year-old Merrimac man has been charged with armed robbery and is expected to appear at the Southport Magistrates Court today.
