Man charged over domestic related siege which forced school into lockdown

A man has been charged following a domestic related siege in Sydney’s west.

At 12.15pm yesterday (Wednesday 12 August 2015), police were called to a domestic dispute between a man and a woman at a property on Railway Terrace, Guildford.

Police spoke to a woman outside the unit, and also located a loaded firearm outside the premises.

Acting on information received, police established a perimeter and attempted to make contact with a man believed to be inside the property.

Police negotiators, the Tactical Operations Unit (TOU) and the Dog Squad were in attendance.

A nearby school was locked down during the operation as a precaution.

About 5pm, TOU forced entry into the home and arrested a 34-year old man who was located inside.

He was taken to Parramatta Police Station where he was later charged with common assault, and possess unauthorised firearm.

He was refused bail to appear at Parramatta Bail Court today (Thursday 13 August 2015).
