Man charged over Gold Coast stabbing granted bail
A former bikie arrested at gunpoint following a stabbing at Mudgeeraba has been granted strict bail.
32-year-old Steven Smith is accused of attacking businessman Paul Picone at Firth Park on August 1 before fleeing in his ute.
He was later arrested in dramatic scenes on Somerset Drive.
He’s charged with grievous bodily harm, unlawful wounding, affray and possessing a knife in a public place.
A court heard allegations that a business relationship between Mr Smith’s wife and Mr Picone had become personal.
Smith has been ordered to provide $50,000 surety, report daily to Police and not contact Mr Picone.
He’s also been ordered to wear a tracking device.
Smith will return to court on August 23.
