Man charged over alleged road rage stabbing attack granted bail

A man accused of stabbing another man in the back during a violent alleged road rage attack in Broadbeach at the weekend has been granted bail.

Jye Barton Jade Juler appeared in Southport Magistrates Court on Wednesday, charged with one count of wounding over the alleged incident which occurred at the busy intersection of Hooker Boulevard and Pacific Fair Drive on Saturday.

Police allege two vehicles stopped at the lights on the Gold Coast Highway around 10.40pm when a bottle was thrown at one of the cars.

A 27-year-old man got out of the vehicle to see what was going on when another bottle was allegedly thrown at him, striking him on the head.

Police said the group then allegedly set upon the injured man before he was stabbed in the back with a broken bottle.

However, in court today, the defence argued it was the victim and his friends who instigated the fight.

Mr Juler was today granted bail under the condition he reside at a home in Loganlea and only travel to the Gold Coast for court.

He will next appear in court on October 27.
