Man charged over serious assault of female police officer in Logan

A female police officer has been hospitalised after allegedly being assaulted by a man in Logan Central overnight.

The violent scenes unfolded at a petrol station on Wembley Road just before midnight, when police were trying to arrest the man for public nuisance.

“A physical struggle ensued, and the man resisted arrest,” Qld police said in a statement.

“During the struggle, a police officer sustained a fracture to her left ankle.”

She was taken to the Princess Alexandra Hospital for treatment.

The man has since been charged with committing public nuisance, obstructing a police officer, serious assault of a police officer and possession of a knife.

He is due to appear in Beenleigh Magistrates Court tomorrow.
