Man charged over Surfers Paradise shooting

POLICE have charged a man over last week’s shooting in a high rise building in Surfers Paradise.

It’s alleged a 24-year-old man stormed the Mantra Crown Towers building on Palm Avenue on Friday morning and a scuffle occurred.

During the fight, a 31-year-old man sustained a gunshot wound to his abdomen.

He was rushed to hospital in a serious condition.

The alleged shooter, of no fixed place of abode, has been charged with enter dwelling with intent, demand property with menace and common assault.

He is due to face Southport Magistrates Court today.

Police are still looking for another man seen on CCTV running from the room shortly after the attack.

Investigations are continuing.
