Man charged over violent cab heist

A MAN has been arrested and charged over the violent robbery of a cab driver in Sydney’s western suburbs last week.

Police say two men got into the taxi on Fitzwilliam Street in Parramatta about 10pm on Thursday July 9 and requested they be driven to Guildford.

Upon reaching Woodstock Street, one of the men allegedly grabbed the 42-year-old taxi driver around the neck and demanded his wallet.

After grabbing a stash of cash, both offenders ran away.

On Thursday July 16, police arrested an 18-year-old man from Merrylands and charged him with robbery in company.

Rosehill Detectives continue to investigate the incident and would like to speak to the second man, who is described as being of Mediterranean/Middle Eastern appearance, aged between 18-19 years old, with a medium build and about 170cm tall.

He was wearing a grey, hooded jumper and black tracksuit pants.
