Man charged after pedestrian killed in Sydney’s south

A man will face court today after he allegedly hit and killed a young female pedestrian with his car whilst under the influence of alcohol.

Police were called to the Princes Highway near the intersection with Brodie Spark Drive in St George after reports of a crash just before 6pm yesterday.

A 22-year-old woman was found unconscious, lying in the middle road.

She was treated by paramedics at the scene and rushed to hospital where she later died.

The 35-year-old male driver of a Holden Ute spoke to police near the crash scene and allegedly refused to undergo a roadside breath test.

He was later given a mandatory blood and urine test where police allege he blew a 0.199 reading.

Police charged him with a string of offences including dangerous driving, drink driving and reckless driving.

His license was suspended and bail was refused.

He’s due to appear before Sutherland Local Court today.
