A man has been charged with preparing to carry out a terrorist attack on Australian soil following counter-terrorism raids across Melbourne’s west.
The 31-year-old man was arrested by Special Operations Group police during a raid on a house on Ballarat Road in Braybrook on Saturday afternoon.
He has since been charged with collecting or making documents likely to facilitate a terrorist act and acts done in preparation for, or planning, a terrorist act.

The man appeared before a bail justice early this morning and has been remanded to appear at Melbourne Magistrates’ Court for a filing hearing later today.
The counter-terror investigation was conducted by the Joint Counter Terrorism Team, comprising of officers from both the Australian Federal Police and Victoria Police.
