Man charged over Southport shooting

A man will face Southport Magistrates Court today, in relation to a shooting that left another man in hospital.

Police began investigations on Sunday, after a 31-year-old man turned up at the Gold Coast University hospital with what was believed to be a gunshot wound.

He refused to tell Police what had happened.


Detectives found out the incident had taken place on Cotlew Street at Southport.

Further inquiries led to the arrest of a 23 -year-old Paradise Point man.

A firearm was also allegedly recovered from his home by police.

He has been charged with a number of offences including acts intended to cause grievous bodily harm, possession of counterfeit currency, and related drugs and firearms charges.
