A MAN has been charged over the sickening assault of an ambulance paramedic who was trying to help him.
Just after 3.15pm on Tuesday 17 October, police were called to a shop on the Pacific Highway at Heatherbrae in NSW after a man started acting erratically.
“The officers spoke to the man and called for Ambulance paramedics to assist in conveying the man to hospital,” police said in a statement.

Whilst on their way to Newcastle hospital, the man allegedly spat in the face of an ambulance paramedic before squeezing the paramedic’s leg tightly.
The 47-year-old man was today released from hospital and arrested by police.
He was taken to Raymond Terrace Police Station where he was charged with common assault (x 2).
The man was refused bail to appear at Raymond Terrace Local Court today.
