Man charged with string of historical sex offences in Brisbane

A 71-year-old man has been charged with a string of historical sex offences dating back more than three decades.

Detectives from the Sexual Crimes Unit say the alleged incidents occurred in the Brisbane area between 1981 and 1995.

The man has been charged with almost 40 sex offences – including seven counts of indecent treatment of boys under 17 years, four counts of carnal knowledge, eight counts of unlawful anal intercourse, three counts of deprivation of liberty and five counts indecent assault on males.

He has also been charged with four counts of indecent assault, two counts of indecent treatment of a child under 16, two counts of indecent treatment of children under 16, three counts of deprivation of liberty and one count of procure act of gross indecency without consent.

The man is due to appear in Brisbane Magistrates Court today.
