Man charged after threatening woman and child with axe in terrifying robbery

A 20-year-old man has been charged after he allegedly threatened a woman and young boy with an axe before stealing their car at a home in Brisbane.

Police say the man entered a home in Holland Park around 10.25am on Friday November 17 and confronted a 31-year-old woman and a 13-year-old boy in the lounge room.

“He is then alleged to have made demands for the keys to a car at the residence. The pair advised where the keys were and he then left the property in the car,” Qld police said in a statement.


Luckily, the woman and boy were not injured.

Following ongoing investigations, officers charged a 20-year-old Belmont man with one count each of armed robbery, common assault, enter a dwelling with intent whilst armed, unlawful use of a motor vehicle and failure to appear in accordance with an undertaking.

He is due to appear in the Wynnum Magistrates Court on January 22, 2018.
