Man charged over train stabbing on Coomera train

A man has been charged after he allegedly stabbed another man during an argument on a Gold Coast train Tuesday night.

Police report a 40-year-old man followed a man he was arguing with into another carriage and kicked his motorcycle helmet, before the 23-year-old man stabbed him in the stomach.

The 40-year-old man suffered non-life threatening injuries, and is recovering in the Gold Coast University Hospital.

The younger man, from Oxenford, was arrested at Coomera station, and is due in Southport Magistrates Court later this month.

He was charged with one count each of unlawful wounding, possessing dangerous drugs and possessing a utensil.

The men were not known to each other.
