A MAN in his 40s has been arrested and charged after he allegedly tried to abduct a two-year-old girl from a shopping centre in Sydney’s west.
The 41-year-old is accused of trying to kidnap the toddler from a child’s playground in the High Street mall at Penrith just after 2.30pm yesterday.
Police said the man went to walk out with the toddler but was stopped by her parent’s who called triple zero.

The man, who police confirmed was not known to the girl, fled the scene and left the shopping centre.
Officers swooped on the shopping centre and spoke with the parents and witnesses before reviewing CCTV.
Following inquiries, the 41-year-old was arrested by detectives at his house in Penrith around 8.30pm last night.
He was taken to Penrith Police Station where he was charged overnight with take/detain child away with intent to remove from parental control.
The man was bail refused to appear in Penrith Local Court today.
